Volunteering
and Rider
Information

"That best portion of a good man's life,

His little, nameless, unremembered acts,

Of kindness and of love..."  - William Wordsworth

Aside from the riders and horses, volunteers are the single most important part of our program...the success of our program depends on people like you volunteering their time and energy!  You don’t have to be a “horse” person to help, or have any experience with persons with disabilities...we will train you.

If you have a few hours of time and the desire to do something positive for your community, we need you!  Any amount of time given is well-spent, and you will receive the reward of knowing that you have been an important part of a special person's life.  You will very likely also find that it's great for your body & soul, too! We ask each volunteer to sign up for one class, which is a time commitment of about 1 1/2 hours per week for the six-week session (of course, you can always help with more than one if you want!)

Volunteers are always needed for Sessions & for help around the stables!

Check our calendar for the training schedules!

It's never too early to sign up!  To volunteer for the upcoming session, or

for more information, contact Program Mgr./Volunteer Coordinator Sara Brown

at 620-260-9997 or email miles_of_smiles@sbcglobal.net We hold training at

The Miles of Smiles Barn, 901 W. Maple Street in Garden City.  This informational &

hands-on training session will prepare new volunteers to assist with our riding lessons.

To ensure the quality & safety of our program, all new volunteers must attend

a training session in order to help with the riding/vaulting lessons!

ATTENTION RIDERS!!!!

Potential Riders:  We are updating our Waiting List!!!  To ensure that we have a current list of people who are waiting to ride with us, please contact us if you or someone in your care is interested in riding!  From the updated Waiting List, riders will be placed in sessions on a first-come, first served basis.  Give us a call at 620-260-9997 or email miles_of_smiles@sbcglobal.net to be added to the list Thank You!

If you need assistance in paying the dues please check out the Adopt a Rider Program in the Fund Raising section of the website!
